My path to ELOKON
Turning my own interests into a career - that's exactly what I always imagined. For someone who has a wide range of hobbies, the path to the perfect job can take a few exciting turns. So after graduating from high school, I first tried things out: I did my first apprenticeship in music production before starting a degree in archaeology. I found my true calling with my current degree in computer science, which I will soon be successfully completing. Since February 2024, I have been working as a working student at ELOKON alongside my studies and for the first time I have the feeling that I have finally arrived.
Fortunately, I found my way to ELOKON through an acquaintance who raved about the pleasant working atmosphere and the exciting products. Today I know what he means, I'm glad to be here and I'm thrilled at how much I've already learned in such a short time. The positive impression has been fully confirmed!
My area of responsibility
It remains exciting - as a working student, my tasks change frequently and I have an insight into a wide variety of work areas. I have already been able to gain a lot of experience, from documentation and machine safety to software development. I'm currently concentrating mainly on hardware development and quality assurance, which gives me a lot of responsibility and shows that my team trusts me and my expertise.
I am currently working on the design of circuit boards for our machines, which have to be both space and cost-saving. To use them, we also need the right software, which I can also develop together with my colleagues, who are always on hand to give me good advice. As a result, my wealth of knowledge in the field of electronics is growing a little every day and my ability to look at and solve problems from different angles has also improved enormously.
What I like most about working at ELOKON
There is always something happening at ELOKON, nothing stands still, everything can and should be constantly developed further - this gives it a fresh start-up vibe. I'm particularly impressed by the incredible expertise of my colleagues and the fact that they always take the time to share it with me and the whole team. We are perfectly attuned to each other, I notice that every day. Even when there's a lot going on, we all work together in a relaxed atmosphere.
I also particularly like my current area of responsibility, which, although it interfaces with my studies, is completely different and much more practical. Hardware development, for example, wasn't even on my radar before, but I enjoy creating and testing designs more than I ever thought possible. It's great that I can try things out here and have the opportunity to use innovative technical equipment.
That's why my dream would be to stay at ELOKON in the long term and to be able to devote myself completely to my work here after my studies. There is always something happening here, and I want to be part of this movement, always learning new things. That's why I'm planning to gain more insights into various technical areas, especially cybersecurity.
My personal highlights
Our meetings in Hamburg are always an exciting experience. Our engineering team from all over the world regularly comes together there. I really enjoy that, especially as I usually work remotely a lot. The personal exchange in the large group always gives me new food for thought for the work in the team and gives everyone an overview of the entire company, so that I also get to know other business areas - such as sales.
I also recently had the opportunity to test one of the new products from our team directly on a forklift truck. The moment when something you've helped to develop works always makes me feel happy.
My way to ELOKON
In many respects I went down the classic route of business studies, where I was immediately drawn to the area of customer relations. My experience working in other countries such as Canada, Spain, Malta, South Africa further broadened my understanding of solution-based approaches and an appreciation of the exchange of information and knowledge.
In 2013 I was given the chance by a mentor to immerse myself more fully in purchasing and marketing activities. Since then, I have really enjoyed accruing in-depth knowledge of the processes that go on inside factories and warehouses and to be able to devise robotic solutions that are individually tailored to customer requirements.
Then in July 2021 ELOKON came calling and offered me a challenge that I was excited to accept, and I am really enjoying embarking on this new professional journey.
My area
In line with the "Lead & Expand" strategy of the ELOKON Group, my mission is to manage the commercial, strategic, and operational coordination and development of ELOKON’s innovative product range, thereby increasing the company’s activities in France.
The role of Sales Manager requires a number of skills such as 360-degree vision of the market, new technologies, benchmarking, communication and marketing. For meeting these expectations, I am being really well supported on a daily basis as a member of the Sales Department.
What I particularly like about working at ELOKON
What I particularly like about my job at ELOKON is working within a very international operation – and knowing that although we come from different backgrounds and cultures, we share the same corporate values and ambitions for the overall success of the company. It is also satisfying to see the daily results that can be achieved thanks to proactive team collaboration. I don’t speak German – yet – but I am looking forward to getting a better knowledge of the language!
My personal highlight at ELOKON
When you join a new company in a country different from your own you need to be flexible and adaptable, but I was made to feel very welcome right from the beginning. As I had the chance to spend a week at ELOKON’s base near Hamburg I enjoyed the very positive working atmosphere and ethos that I had experienced during my interviews, and I quickly felt part of the team.
My way to ELOKON
Any career is a journey, and mine has been an exciting adventure so far! It all started with my training as a retail salesman, followed by a year abroad, A-levels and a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering.
In my professional career, I then gained extensive experience in management - both at a technical-administrative and operational level as well as at a commercial level. My thirst for knowledge drove me to study for a Management MBA in Hamburg at the weekends.
In these professional stations, I learnt various aspects of communication and economics and deepened my expertise in company development, personnel management, contract design and sales. But my curiosity for new challenges drove me on.
In April 2024, I started as Business Development Manager at ELOKON, where I took on the exciting task of developing the machine safety division in the DACH region and Western Europe from scratch and expanding it further in the future.
My area
For more than 30 years, ELOKON has successfully realised projects in the field of machine safety in Poland, from Brazil to Asia. My aim now is to proactively establish this success in the DACH market and in Western Europe.
My strategic tasks include marketing development, personnel planning and business area analyses. Operationally, I am currently focussing primarily on acquiring new customers and maintaining existing ones.
What I particularly like about working at ELOKON
ELOKON is a dynamic company with an agile, highly professional and at the same time very open and appreciative culture, which I experience at first hand and which motivates me a lot. I particularly appreciate the creative freedom I have in my position and the efficient coordination processes that enable us to implement solutions quickly. The modern mindset of the entire company has made a positive impression on me. Intensive dialogue with colleagues and customers is particularly important to me and is always maintained despite business trips and working from home.
My personal highlight at ELOKON
This definitely includes my familiarisation period. I was able to get to know the teams in both Tornesch and Warsaw, which was not only exciting and challenging, but also gave me a deep insight into the different characteristics and working methods at ELOKON - with a thoroughly positive impression!
Particularly memorable was the team meeting in Tornesch, where I was able to meet and get to know many colleagues from other regions in person.
