ELOKON’s men’s relay team complete the Haspa Marathon
in great weather on a great track
As promised after the last Haspa Marathon Hamburg, postponed to September 2021, ELOKON fielded a team for this year’s event which was back to its usual spring schedule. Blue skies and sunshine were out to greet the 20,000 participants on Sunday 24thApril, and among them was our 4-strong men’s relay team. They had all been training hard to “run the blue line” around the streets of Hamburg.
So many congratulations go to Karthik Iyer, for his 15.6km stretch, Rafal Kalecki, who ran 11.5km, Mario Duemer for completing 9.7km and Niklas Gerdes for 5.4km. They achieved a very respectable overall finishing time of 3:56:49 with an average speed 5:37 per km, no doubt helped by the traditional pre-race pasta meal the night before.
It may not be the easiest way to experience the sights of Hamburg, but it is certainly the most special! We at ELOKON are all impressed by the commitment and stamina of our runners, whom we cheered on properly along the route. We are definitely in the starting blocks again for next year's marathon - perhaps even with two relay teams.
