ELOKON participated at the Haspa Marathon 2021
Motivated mixed relay team finished 62nd place
A Sunday morning stroll around Hamburg is a great way to start the day, and four ELOKON employees went even further by running a route that took in some of the best sites the city has to offer! They were participating in this year’s Haspa Marathon as a mixed gender relay team and finished in a very respectable 62nd place out of 157 team entries.
What is usually billed as Germany’s largest spring marathon was postponed from April until 12th September due to the pandemic, and only those who had proof of vaccination or complete recovery from Covid were allowed to take part. Numbers were therefore lower than in previous years, with around 5,000 runners in all, but according to our ELOKON athletes it was as ever a fantastic experience, with spectators lining the route, as well as of course other ELOKON employees, to cheer them on.
So, congratulations go to Kai Hansen for his 15,6 km, Radoslaw Rudiuk from Poland who ran 11,5 km, Pablo Maderholz who clocked up 5,4 km and Silvia Beneke who completed 9,7 km. And at the end of the race they all looked - almost - as fresh as when they started!
We’ll definitely be fielding a team next year, and are looking forward to running “the blue line” again on 24th April 2022.
